veeam flr appliance login

I was working on a restore issue (filename ?.html) with a customer, and tried to login to the Veeam 6.1 FLR using root and the Veeam Backup servername_r, and wasn’t a able to get in. Does anyone know if the root password for the FLR with 6.1 is different than noted in http://www.veeam.com/kb_articles.html/kb1447 ?

A lot of people don’t realize that you can set the password on the FLR appliance in the Manage Credentials screen, and once you set that you can use SCP/SFTP or rsync/tar over SSH to perform restores. You don’t even have to configure the “Enable FTP” option for that to work.

When I log onto the FLR appliance, I can ssh (and scp files) to the VM using the same root credentials just fine. I’m trying to figure out why the GUI is returning the error that it is. The VM nor the FLR appliance are logging any fail attempts when I use the GUI.

You can use the Veeam Backup & Replication console to restore individual files and folders from Veeam Agent backups. The procedure of file-level restore from a Veeam Agent backup is similar to the same procedure for a VM backup.

Log in using the user name root and the password set in the credentials section. Run the command ip addr and identify the IP address the helper appliance received from the DHCP server. Connect to the Temporary FLR Helper appliance using WinSCP or Filezilla via SFTP. Drives and files will be mounted on the Temporary Helper Appliance under /media/

Hi, we have applied the available security patches and upgraded our Veeam backup Azure version 6 to 7 Yesterday. Since then, we are unable to go to the url that the FLR creates for any of our restore requests using Veeam appliance portal.

The new vCloud Director Self-Service Portal in Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 allows tenant to perform backups and restores in a complete self-service mode. To execute file level restores for non-Microsoft file systems, a Multi-OS FLR Helper Appliance virtual appliance is used.

Linux FLR without helper appliance — FLR from Linux file systems can now be performed by mounting backup to ANY Linux machine: dedicated, target or the original one (which is always guaranteed to understand the file system you’re trying to restore from).
